Chad D. Neilsen, MPH, CIC, FAPIC


Chad is an infection prevention and accreditation director and faculty member at a Level 1 Trauma, Academic Health Center. He is responsible for oversight of the facility’s federal accreditation and his hospital system's response to COVID-19. He’s worked as an epidemiologist in state, county, and academic levels and has 10+ years in the field of infectious disease epidemiology. His infection prevention leadership has been nationally recognized, and he is a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC). Chad also serves as a Public Health Officer in the Air National Guard. His role in military epidemiology has included oversight of numerous outbreak and pandemic responses, including the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak of 2014, and more recently, in support of his states National Guard response to COVID-19. His work with the Air National Guard in the last two years has earned him national, state, and local awards. Chad also serves as an advisory board member for several non-profit organizations. An Orlando native, Chad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida, and a Master of Public Health-Epidemiology degree from the University of Florida. Chad is 40 under 40 award winner with the University of Florida and with the Jacksonville Business Journal, and an Outstanding Alumni winner from his graduate college at UF. Chad lives in Jacksonville, FL with his wife and daughter.
